It seems there are various screensaver packages:
$ pkg list | grep screensaver desktop/mate/mate-screensaver 1.26.1-2022.0.0.0 i-- desktop/xscreensaver 6.4-2022.0.0.2 i-- desktop/xscreensaver/hacks 6.4-2022.0.0.2 i-- For what it is worth, as I have not much experience with screensavers, on my OpenIndiana system, the screensavers seem to work. mate-screensaver seems to be a package from 2022 but that would contradict the fact that it is reported to have been present in OpenIndiana in the past ... For example in Control Center under "Screensaver" I can select "Cosmos" for the MATE screensaver and get cosmos images from planets etc. In Control Center under 'X Screensaver Settings' (which is a different setting in Control Center) I can select "Twang" with the OpenIndiana logo and it also works.
