Hi Corey and all,

I'm working with a vendor to help them figure out (what I believe to be
a) compliance bug in their firmware related to the permsg-auth flag. It
was brought up that 'ipmicmd' worked with their hardware but that
ipmipower (in FreeIPMI) and ipmitool did not work.

Does 'ipmicmd' and the OpenIPMI library alter their packet behavior
based on the contents of the permsg authentication flag returned in a
get authentication capability response? As far as I can tell (mostly
from auth_cap_done() in ipmi_lan.c) 'ipmicmd' does not read the permsg
authentication flag and assumes it is enabled all the time. (For this
particular situation, that would explain why ipmicmd worked.)

I don't know the OpenIPMI code as well as others, so I just wanted to
verify that what I've analyzed is in fact correct.

Thanks,
Al
