I was exploring the Hard Drive statistics and here is the output of ipmitool –v sdr

Sensor ID              : Drv 1 Stat (0x2)

Entity ID             : 15.1 (Drive Backplane)

Sensor Type (Discrete): Drive Slot / Bay

Sensor ID              : Drv 2 Stat (0x3)

Entity ID             : 15.1 (Drive Backplane)

Sensor Type (Discrete): Drive Slot / Bay

 Assertions Enabled    : Drive Slot

                         [Drive Present]

                         [Drive Fault]

                         [Predictive Failure]

                         [Hot Spare]

                         [Rebuild Aborted]

Sensor ID              : Drv 3 Stat (0x4)

Entity ID             : 15.1 (Drive Backplane)

Sensor Type (Discrete): Drive Slot / Bay

 Assertions Enabled    : Drive Slot

                         [Drive Present]

                         [In Critical Array]

 Deassertions Enabled  : Drive Slot

                         [Drive Present]

                         [In Critical Array]

Sensor ID              : Drv 4 Stat (0x5)

Entity ID             : 15.1 (Drive Backplane)

Sensor Type (Discrete): Drive Slot / Bay

 Deassertion Events    : Drive Slot

                         [Parity Check In Progress]

 Assertions Enabled    : Drive Slot

                         [Drive Present]

                         [Parity Check In Progress]

 Deassertions Enabled  : Drive Slot

                         [Drive Present]

                         [Parity Check In Progress]

Someone can help me in understanding the values returned, for e.g. how will I come to know whether the disk is present or what is the health of disk. The Assertion Enabled column had the information but doesn't reflects the exact status. Where as the sensor output is

Drv 1 Pres       | 0x0        | discrete   | 0x0180| na        | na         | na        | na        | na        | na

Drv 2 Pres       | 0x0        | discrete    | 0x0180| na        | na        | na         | na        | na        | na

Drv 3 Pres       | 0x0        | discrete    | 0x0080| na        | na        | na        | na        | na        | na

I am assuming that 0x0180 means drive is present and its health is good. Is my assumption is good?

Thanks,

Gurpreet
