I've never used a 'ProLiant DL380 G5' - so have no idea if it supports LAN channels. However, I had a problem with a number of identical IBM boxes with some not reporting a LAN channel - but after I ran: ipmitool mc reset cold on the these problematic boxes, I could then find the LAN channel ...
