I have an ATCA boad with a pigion point IPMC on board to connect to the
SHMC. The payload processor is a 8548 connected to the IPMC through UART.
I have the openipmi serial driver working great in the kernel providing
/dev/ipmi0. I would like to be able to query/talk with the IPMC attached to
the payload processor from the payload processor without going through a
system manager.
I can do this with ipmitool and dump sensors and fru. I was trying to use
openipmish instead so that I could have more control over queries and also
write fields in fru (debug purposes).
Communication with the IPMC (BMC?) through dev/ipmi0 by openipmish is
happening just fine. And when sent the GetDevId command, the BMC is
responding with a correct response that give HW and IPMB addresses and also
identifies the board as ATCA.
But when it appears that openipmish still wants to go through and scan all
channels as if talking with a SHMC. And it doesn't respond with and FRU or
SDR infor found.
Will openipmish work with just the local BMC like this? I see the
'localonly' option to the 'domain open' command. But enabling this doesn't
seem to make any difference.
Are their better tools for interfacing with the BMC through openipmi driver
(that would also allow writing fru fields).
Thanks
David Jenkins
