PS: That's the way I tested:

As said, before applying your patch, I was getting flooded by "Could not
set the global enables: 0xcc." messages when I loaded the ipmi_si
module. This is gone with the patch.

And the interface seems to work. Verified using ipmitool-1.8.15:
I started ipmievd (/usr/sbin/ipmievd -I open sel
pidfile=/run/ipmievd.pid) and triggered a test event (ipmitool event 3)
which will appear in my syslog like expected (Apr  4 21:09:16 testbox42
ipmievd: Memory sensor - Correctable ECC (@DIMMX6(CPU4))).



PS2: I am going to report this upstream (Supermicro) because you said
this should be fixed in the IPMI firmware as well.
