Status in “openjdk-6” source package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: open-jdk-6-jre-headless does not depend on libjpeg62. If libjpeg62 is not installed, using any jpeg function in the openjdk-6-jre-headless makes the JVM crash. Steps to reproduce: 1) install a Ubuntu 8.10 JeOS server on VMWare Player 2) sudo aptitude install tomcat6 3) install JIRA (from Atlassian http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/JIRADownloadCenter.jspa) as WAR/EAR file on tomcat6 4) create a bug in JIRA and attach a JPEG file to it => openjdk 6 JRE JVM crashes Installing libjpeg62 fixes the crash.
