This still doesn't work for me in 10.04, even after I stopped using "the wrong path in the local config file", which is a drastic oversimplification of my bug report.
I either get no audio, or an NPE and no audio. However, an strace shows that libpulse-java.so is now getting loaded from the correct location so things may be working properly and something else is wrong with my particular system configuration.
