Package: openjdk-7-jre Version: 7u25-2.3.10-1~deb7u1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, *** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***
* What led up to the situation? A recent update from Debian Wheezy included a new version of the OpenJDK/JRE runtime. According to Debian packages, this update is from the security repository. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Several days after installing the update, I attempted to complete a homework assignment that uses Java (Cisco/Netspace assignment that uses PacketTracer). * What was the outcome of this action? Originally this worked just fine but after the update, the PTSA player failed to load. Also the Java test page failed to load at http://www.java.com/verify, however, the page at http://www.javatester.org/version.html works. When I run Firefox from the console, I get the following information: java version "1.7.0_25" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.3.10) (7u25-2.3.10-1~deb7u1) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.7-b01, mixed mode) It appears that the applet wants to run, but then it doesn't. To verify that it wasn't my browser, I installed Chromium and tested with the same results. I'm running a kernel from backports (3.13). To verify that it wasn't my system in general, I tested it out in a virtual machine running Debian Wheezy, installed openjdk-7 (1.7.0.25) and icedtea-7-plugin. I tested it in Iceweasel, still. A status bar message indicates the applet is loading, but it never loads and the page times out to tell me it can't tell if I have java installed. Still, some pages, such as javatester, work, while the java.com/verify page and Cisco net academy pages don't. * What outcome did you expect instead? I expected the applets to run as they did before I updated. * Details OS: Debian Wheezy Kernel: 3.13-0.bpo.1-amd64 OpenJDK: 7u25-2.3.10-1~deb7u1 IcedTea-7: 1.4-3~deb7u2 Firefox: 28.0 64 bit Sources.list: deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ wheezy main non-free contrib deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ wheezy main non-free contrib deb http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates main contrib non-free deb-src http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates main contrib non-free deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ wheezy-updates main contrib non-free deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ wheezy-updates main contrib non- free deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian wheezy-backports main contrib non-free To currently remedy the problem, I've downloaded and installed the JRE from Oracle and created the symlink in ~/.mozilla/plugins *** End of the template - remove these lines *** -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.4 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.13-0.bpo.1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages openjdk-7-jre depends on: ii libasound2 1.0.25-4 ii libatk-wrapper-java-jni 0.30.4-3 ii libatk1.0-0 2.4.0-2 ii libc6 2.13-38+deb7u1 ii libcairo2 1.12.2-3 ii libcups2 1.5.3-5+deb7u1 ii libfontconfig1 2.9.0-7.1 ii libfreetype6 2.4.9-1.1 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.26.1-1 ii libgif4 4.1.6-10 ii libgl1-mesa-glx [libgl1] 8.0.5-4+deb7u2 ii libglib2.0-0 2.33.12+really2.32.4-5 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.10-2 ii libjpeg8 8d-1 ii libpango1.0-0 1.30.0-1 ii libpng12-0 1.2.49-1 ii libpulse0 2.0-6.1 ii libx11-6 2:1.5.0-1+deb7u1 ii libxext6 2:1.3.1-2+deb7u1 ii libxi6 2:1.6.1-1+deb7u1 ii libxinerama1 2:1.1.2-1+deb7u1 ii libxrandr2 2:1.3.2-2+deb7u1 ii libxrender1 1:0.9.7-1+deb7u1 ii libxtst6 2:1.2.1-1+deb7u1 ii openjdk-7-jre-headless 7u25-2.3.10-1~deb7u1 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.7.dfsg-13 Versions of packages openjdk-7-jre recommends: ii libgconf2-4 3.2.5-1+build1 ii libgnome2-0 2.32.1-3 ii libgnomevfs2-0 1:2.24.4-2 ii ttf-dejavu-extra 2.33-3 Versions of packages openjdk-7-jre suggests: ii icedtea-7-plugin 1.4-3~deb7u2 -- no debconf information _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~openjdk Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~openjdk More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
