Beside PrimeFaces I watch their sister UI suites projects for Vue, React etc. They try making their components handy for custom styling. For PrimeVue they utilize a design token concept, see https://primevue.org/theming/styled/, but they also offer an alternative styling approach https://primevue.org/theming/unstyled/ I suppose this is the result of their theming experience for last couple of years.
