Seems to be focus related. It ends up getting the focus on different order and invalidates the value, calling (on line 179): datePicker.valueProperty().addListener(event -> { dialog.close(); }); This causes the dialog to be closed before expected. The test does not seem correct, because it re-uses the dialog, but the latches are not set up to be re-used.
