The goal was to render JavaFX content in a GTK4 window with beautiful backdrop effects, giving it the same native look and feel as other GNOME applications, complete with native window controls on the extended stage. Backdrops only works on Gnome 51 (not yet released) on the latest released Kde Plasma. I also found that running nested Wayland compositors or an X11 session is really useful for testing.
