That's nice it's more than Oracle has ever done for Wayland and JavaFX.
It's unfortunate because Flatpak is phasing out apps that use both X11 and Wayland. Since JavaFX doesn't fully support Wayland yet, most JavaFX applications risk being removed from Flathub or having their updates halted.
The way I see it, the lack of Wayland support will spell total failure for JavaFX in the short term.
Oracle, are you interested in adding official support for Wayland or not? On 10/24/26 03:10, Thiago Milczarek Sayão wrote:
I couldn't wait until I had everything fully implemented, so I took a shortcut to see how it would look and if it would fully work. So, here it is: JavaFX running 100% on Wayland, with either Vulkan or OpenGL rendering. https://github.com/tsayao/jfx-wayland We can reuse some of the ideas, but not the code. I kept it in a separate repository to avoid any legal issues. If I've still made any mistakes in that regard, please let me know and I'll fix them. Regardless, it was an interesting experiment. -- Thiago
