+1 from me. I don't think the changes to the release process will be that complicated, especially not if we maintain a read-only svn mirror. While I regret that I cannot participate in tomorrow's FOSS4G sprint, I am confident that the committers that do attend the sprint will be able to get all this in place tomorrow.
