Hi all I have been researching a problem with our open layers mapping. We have successfully rolled out an open layers/geoserver site using WMS and EPSG:4326. Everything aligns perfectly. However, I could not find a good solution for adding a layer and showing selected attribute information in an 'hover over' popup. After more research on this site, I decided WFS looked like the solution. I managed to get an address point overlay coming through with popups - hopefully you can see a working example here:
http://gis.southsomerset.gov.uk/geoserver/rest/proxy?url=http://webmap2.southsomerset.gov.uk/wfs/chris_eg.html http://gis.southsomerset.gov.uk/geoserver/rest/proxy?url=http://webmap2.southsomerset.gov.uk/wfs/chris_eg.html I wonder if someone can answer a few queries? - The WFS layer is aligned perfectly east-west, but is out of alignment north-south. The points are correct at the top of the map window and steadily go wrong the further south the map window you go (they do not display at all in the lower half of the map). Interestingly, the pop up windows display in the correct place (you will notice this if you hover over the points, the pop up appears over the correct house). Has anyone a solution to this? - The only way to use WFS is by using a proxy. This doesn't work with IE without changing internal settings which is no good for a public site. Is this a show stopper or am I missing something? - Finally, has anyone got a simple solution for displaying attribute information from a WMS layer? This would make my life a LOT easier! Thanks in advance - I would not post here unless it was a last resort but I have been running around in circles for weeks over this. Apologies if I have missed something obvious.
