Hi, i just wanna share my experience on dealing with image as the base layer.
1. 35 mb for an image is very very big for the internet, unless you want to use it locally. 2. Instead u can use lower res jpg image to speed up the image loading but when u zoom in, the image seems to break off. 3. U have another option which is to convert the hi res jpg to png. Png image does not break off even at smaller size like 500kb when zoomed in. This seems like an ideal solution. 4. But png image is rendered differently in ff, chrome as well as i.e. I.e. seems to render png slower than ff. Thats all.
