After toying with the Mapfish print module and using other workarounds to
generate a nice printable map as well as PDF generator I thought of a simple
yet perfect solution. I have a map in a complex layout. I want to create a
JSP page that will recreate just the map (with some simple text) that is as
close to original map as possible. There are HTML to PDF utilities out
there that I have tested and work perfectly to generate the PDF. While this
question may not be very OpenLayers specific I know there are many
programmer gurus in this community and that others might want to see this
info. So, onto the question. What is the best way to "save" the map state
and pass the data to a JSP? I really just need the map properties and the
layer info to recreate the map. Should I create a JSON object, create a
hidden form, or is there a better method? Any advice would be greatly
appreciated.
