[OpenLayers-Users] pixel from layer rather then viewport?

I want to get the pixel value as it pertains to a specific layer that I 
have on the map, not the viewport. I was messing with the 
map.getLayerPxFrom functions, but they give me just the same pixel 
values as the viewport.

Is there a way to know the pixel value as it pertains to a specific 
layer or the overall map rather then just the viewport?
