@Using Cascading WMS or mapServer as proxy: The problem I see here is that the user is able to add each WMS-Server he wants to (and we don´t want to restrict this). Using a proxy would mean to have only a limited list of WMS-Servers which are added to the configuration of the proxy I guess. I forgot to mention that explicitly. @On-the-fly raster reprojection via gdalwarp: That looks promising. We´ll try to test that in our solution and see if it´s working accurate (I guess it could mean a lot of calculating for the client when there are mulitple layers though). I´ll let you know when we´ve succeeded.
