Hi,
The use of Markers layers is discouraged. They have no events, are not
developed any further and will disappear from OL from 3.x onwards.
Anything you can do with a Markers layer you can do with a Vector layer,
even showing an external graphic. See the Styling Documentation [1] for
more info how to style vector features.
