Well I still think you should WMS to display the huge amount of data
instead but...
map.div.style.cursor = 'wait';
loadingPanel.maximizeControl(); // and stop with
minimizeControl();
is how I tell users to wait. You can attach to loadstart and loadend
events. Loadingpanel does this automatically for WMS, dont know why it
isnt for WFS
