Thanks Gery, but i'm still not sure I see an apples to apples example. One of the maps in my example uses the projection "epsg:2277" and displays some information specific to a small area in mid texas.
for the google base layer, i convert the extents from the arcgis server map and set them in that map. This part seems to work as the google street view shows the right area in the display. My problem seems to be reprojecting the "epsg:2277" map on top of the google base layer. Do you see any errors in the code I posted?
