The first thing to do would be check the GetCaps document to see that
what you want is actually supported for that layer. The error would
suggest not. You should use the NET tab on your debugger (Chrome or
firebug) to look at the request that is actually being sent to the WMS
server. If you copy it and paste into the URL bar of your browser, you
can can play with options in the URL and see what comes back. Try other
info_formats for a start. (gml is the most useful, but it possible that
service owner has configured only unhelpful html returns).
