Looks like the original 2.1 implementation did what I just patched today; someone else
must have said "that's confusing" and talked me out of it.
OK, suppose we add a "-g" option that disables glue completely?
Personally, I think the slapcat/add should ignore glue in
general. They were intended to work on databases. That is,
I rather -g be used to "enable glue" when one wanted to
span multiple databases glued together.
My perspective is the opposite - the point of glue is to allow you to
treat multiple databases as a single database and mostly forget that
they are separate. I.e., when an administrator decides to use glue, it
is abnormal / out of the ordinary to want to operate on only the
component databases.
