That had my hopes up. I didn't think any of those settings applied, because nothing about the query or the results is being rewritten or mapped. In effect, rwm should not be doing anything at all. Everything should pass through the overlay. I set rwm-drop-unrequested-attrs to no, and it made things worse. If I include the filter attributes in the query, nothing is returned, now.
