2.2.23 (The version in Debian Sarge). Debian hasn't even gotten to 2.3.x
in unstable yet.
Well, dump the debian version. Either build 2.3.20 yourself, or use a free
pre-compiled version like CDS silver (at http://www.symas.com). 2.2 is
historic, and that particular release of 2.2 had a number of bugs. A lot
of performance tuning was done later in the 2.2 series, and in the early
2.3 series. You won't get those benefits running that old of a version of
OpenLDAP.
