Through some combination of db_recover's and slapd restarts I did get it to come back up on the slave I was testing this on. The master seemed to go just fine on its own until it came under load; now it's returning all queries ok but it's sitting at 100% cpu usage for no apparent reason. I haven't had time to look into that one.
