Maybe the issue is Solaris-specific?
Cyrus-sasl 2.1.25 was released with no testing, and contains numerous bugs.
I have an OpenLDAP build with 2.1.25 that works, but it requires having
several patches. If you're really curious, I'd suggest reading up on the
cyrus-sasl list.
