Why would it install a cn=config dir? I would suggest you try and gain
some basic concept of software compilation if you are going to do that.
Installling into /usr/local is most likely exactly what you want, as well.
Simply switch the "slapd" you are using to be the one in /usr/local.
You can continue to use your existing config, as noted previously, but
passing the -F flag to the startup arguments for slapd.
