There are many modules in contrib/slapd-modules in the source tree. How about implementing the generic X-SUBST dummy used for ldapSyntaxes also for matching rules? I'm considering something like X-PASSTHRU, such that one can provide via config the declaration of matching rules that are actual no-ops (return for example operations error when invoked). p.
