Not exactly. OpenLDAP dropped support of BDB because it changed from the Sleepycat license to AGPLv3. AFAIR there was never a "newer Sleepycat license".
Ah, right. Still, a question for them to ask a lawyer about if they're going to be redistributing BDB. But again the better path is to simply build OpenLDAP without any BDB backends enabled.
