I think this is because the list of files in the settings are upgraded.
This is done the method app_startup, which happens after the
mediamanager list has been loaded.

Title:
  Media disappears on upgrade

Status in OpenLP - Worship Presentation Software:
  New

Bug description:
On upgrading from OpenLP 2.0 to trunk rev2475 the items in the media
  mediamanager get lost.

  Ubuntu 14.10

  How to reproduce:
Start from a clean slate (delete config and data files)
Start OpenLP 2.0 and add some media files (in my case .oggs)
  Close OpenLP2.0 and run trunk
  The media manager is empty.
