I think this should be considered as bug instead of wishlist. The larger live/preview panel is set, the larger image/presentation slide becomes.

But I have also noticed that if you are presenting some images, or presentation, it makes the thumbnails very big and quite impossible to use. Same behavior can be reached by resizing the live panel. It would be probably more wise to allow extending the thumbnails until some reasonable size. I have attached a demonstration picture.
