Mitigate Bandwidth Congestion when sharing the screen
-----------------------------------------------------

                 Key: OPENMEETINGS-29
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OPENMEETINGS-29
             Project: Openmeetings
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: BuildsAndReleases
         Environment: Ubuntu Linux
            Reporter: Conrad Beckert
            Assignee: SebastianWagner

When sharing the screen, delays of more than 10sec occur - probably due to
bandwidth jam. Sending a 1280x1014 screen produces a stream of almost
1024kbit/s which fills a standard DSL connection almost entirely.

Please allow to reduce the color depth to mitigate the bandwidt jam - such as
VNC does. For most use cases, it's better to show the big screen with 8bit
color than a little window with high color. Using JPEG compression might help
too (but is more intrusive)
