Mikael Kurula commented on OPENMEETINGS-494: -------------------------------------------- Thanks for responding! Thanks for taking the time to discuss this issue; the recording is the critical issue for me whether I should take OM into professional use or not. Now I'm very confused. I've asked about this issue on the users list, and I got the impression that recording on highest quality should yield output at 30 fps? A frame rate of 2 fps is way too low for my application of OM. Why should the OM admin or a teacher not be allowed to use a high frame rate? Bandwidth is not a problem for us, but having decent quality recordings is a priority. (I teach university-level mathematics over the internet and the students who can't attend the sessions in realtime study the recordings. I imagine studying a static video with me babbling is boring enough even if the quality is decent.) In my recordings, I will also always show a window with a video of me talking and pointing at stuff on a VGA beamer canvas, so the video will be there in the recording. I think no frames are missing when I record at High quality, then the frame rate is at 2 fps and all frames are probably there because the video and the audio stay in sync. I talked about missing frames regarding Very high quality, because I thought the frames in the output video were displaying at the correct speed, but with many frames missing. Do I now understand correctly that the intended frame rate for Very high quality is also 2 fps and that the bug is that the output video displays the frames faster than at 2 fps? > Recording gives frame rate of 2 fps > ----------------------------------- > > Key: OPENMEETINGS-494 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OPENMEETINGS-494 > Project: Openmeetings > Issue Type: Bug > Affects Versions: 2.1 Apache Incubator Release > Environment: CentOS 6 and Ubuntu 12.04 servers, Macbook pro and > Windows 7 clients. Flash 11.5.502.13x, Java 1.6.something on both server and > client > Reporter: Mikael Kurula > Priority: Critical > > When I record with any quality except for "very high quality", I get a frame > rate of only about 2 fps. When I use the "very high quality", my video plays > back at a higher frame rate, but it seems a lot of frames are missing, so in > practice the video plays back approximately 5-10 times too fast. > I am using recommended versions of both swftools and ffmpeg, but I don't > think it's an ffmpeg issue, since already the raw .flv stream fed to ffmpeg > has broken frame rate. > This effectively prevents me from using openmeetings in my work. -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA.
