Comment by SFreeper: My default character set is UTF8 and I still can't get to step2. I checked netstat and it tells me, that my mySQL db is listening on port 3306 and my red5 Server is trying to connect to it. But the mysqld just seems to ignore it somehow...
any ideas?! another application on the Server is writing into the DB without any problems...
