Apache OpenMeetings team, I am honored to have the opportunity to work with you all. My name is Josh Dolitsky. I am a 21-year-old student just finishing my third year at Indiana University Bloomington in the US, studying Informatics and Entrepreneurship. I am a passionate programmer always trying to expand my knowledge. The majority of my abilities fall into the web realm, with a focus on web services and back-end development, database etc. This is my first instance of involvement with any open source community. My project is relating to the OpenMeetings module for the ATutor Learning Management System originally written by Harris Wong. It is currently using the user information from ATutor to make OpenMeetings API calls such as getRoomById and so on. The issue is that in order to do so, the module makes use of a PHP library called nuSOAP to handle all SOAP API calls. The library is licensed under LGPL. My job will be to rewrite my own library or equivalent to replace nuSOAP to ensure the module complies with the Apache Licence. I will also switch over to the OpenMeetings REST API. The end product should match the existing functionality of the module. Additional goals from my original GSoC proposal include making files from ATutor available within OpenMeetings, as well as making video recordings from OpenMeetings available within ATutor. These latter goals will not be my focus this summer, but I hope to implement them at some point. Great to be a part of this community, I will hopefully meet some of you tomorrow during the meeting.
