Hallo Horace,

there is no way of running the installer into the same database twice.

Yes the entries of the menu are controlled by the database, however just
deleting them will not repair it. You will have some other duplicates in
other tables too.

Also to change really anything you have to stop the server first, otherwise
you will mess up your database caching.

There are several tables to check for duplicates then, also check your
labels tables if they are okay now and the configurations table.... after
all a clean install might be easier.
