Yes I think so ... according to the document in the link I've send. However, instead of using MS-SQL Express just to save some Dollars compared to its big brother MS-SQL , you could also use the completely free databases Postgres or MySQL, or MariaDB or any other from the list of supported dialects: http://docs.jboss.org/hibernate/core/3.3/reference/en/html/session-configuration.html#configuration-optional-dialects
