First of all, I am successfully running OpenMeetings using a Linux box
with Firefox for the Moderator and separate Win/XP boxes (one running
Chrome and one running Firefox) for two other users.

Most things are working well, but it's very annoying that the "Test
Setup" application that's meant to allow users to confirm that their
mics and speakers are properly configured implies a flawed
configuration every time--whether the configuration is good or not!

Specifically, although the VU-meter jumps around conspicuously while
the microphone test is going on, when it's time to press the "Play"
button to confirm that the recording is good, no sound comes out, and
no error message is displayed. But if the configuration is good and
the user leaves the Test Setup window sitting there (not sure if
that's a necessary condition), the sound from the test may emerge at a
later time--it just pops out of nowhere, rather unpredictably! I've
heard it arrive at delays ranging from 2 to 10 minutes. (But I've only
observed this phenomenon on the Linux/Moderator box; haven't looked
for it on others yet.)

I scoured my computer looking for small audio files that were created
during the time I was running Test Setup so I might try to track down
what app ended up playing them later, but I haven't been able to
identify the filename. Also, I haven't seen any errors reported in the
Flash or Java log files that seem to relate to this issue.

I've had customers flail around for days trying to make that playback
test work, only to eventually discover (as I have) that it's not a
valid predictor of the application's audio performance in the first
place! Leaving this bug in OpenMeetings would seem to be an excellent
way to scare away potential new users of this otherwise impressively
functional product. 8-{

Other details:

* Sound playback works fine in all other applications
* Testing in OpenMeetings r3700
* Running Flash 10.2.159.1
  >  which crashes occasionally
  > "settings" option works fine to adjust Mic gain
* Java version 1.6.0_22 (Sun)
* I have "sox", which I thought might be used for the Mic record/
playback test; I hid it and ran the record/playback test again, but it
still failed n the same way.
