Hi,
Part of my issue is that I have close to zero experience (therefore knowledge) on SIP. I have a SIP phone connected to a SIP provider, and that is all. What I would like to understand is how to use SIP in a meeting? What is it that SIP allows people to do? I do not yet understand how to use Asterisk, though I have followed the below doco to install it with OpenMeetings, I do not know if I was successful or not as I don't know how to use/test it. If some one can give me a few pointers please do, I am at my computer so if someone wants to chat with me we could use OpenMeetings to do this ? Documentation online: http://incubator.apache.org/openmeetings/voip-sip-integration.html http://incubator.apache.org/openmeetings/red5sip-integration.html And in the wiki: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OPENMEETINGS/OpenMeetings+Asterisk+Integration https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OPENMEETINGS/VoIP+Integration+General+Description There are also people on this list that already have duplicated/build such a server with those docs. http://diablo.craem.net/wordpress/?p=589 Just in case I think we can still interview Timur when we have specific technical questions/issues. Sebastian 2012/8/21 Alexei Fedotov <[email protected]> George, AFAIK all SIP code is in place, nothing should be specifically built. All that is needed is a fair amount of configuration. -- With best regards / с наилучшими пожеланиями, Alexei Fedotov / Алексей Федотов, http://dataved.ru/ +7 916 562 8095 <tel:%2B7%20916%20562%208095> On Tue, Aug 21, 2012 at 11:37 AM, George Kirkham <[email protected]> wrote: Hi, You said "Alexei has a demo server working with the SIP integration", I would appreciate knowing how to build such a demo server should Alexei have time to create documentation on how to build. Sebastian 2012/8/20 George Kirkham <[email protected]> Joseph, You asked about "successfully integrated OM with SIP, preferably Asterisk", I agree that would be nice but I have not been able to understand enough to get SIP working. The echo you speak about is an issue and will remain an issue unless all your meeting participants are using echo cancelling speaker phones or headphones. Greatest cause of echo for me is people with laptops who are using inbuilt speakers and microphone, any sound from their speakers just feeds straight back into their microphone, causing so much echo problems. But when everyone is using echo cancelling speaker phones or headphones all is great. Would it be possible to set-up vchat with me so I can see how it works. Does it deal well with eliminating the echo on the audio.
