It would be great if you can tell me how you are starting up OMEdit?

Also in order to overcome the problem you have described me, you can create
a folder called .MacOSX in your home folder and then create a file called
environment.plist in that folder. Open this file and add the variable in it.
The variable name should be OPENMODELICAHOME and its value should be
/opt/local/ (i am assuming your omc is placed at /opt/local/bin/ if not then
change the value according to the location). Make sure the / at the end of
value.

You need to logoff and login again in order to have these changes
implemented.
