Hey, I have tested the following steps and the result is in my zecke branch, I would like to see this in the stable branch as well...
# get v2.6.24.7
git-fetch --tags
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-2.6.24.y.git
# merge it, it is conflict free
git-merge v2.6.24.7
I know this is not yet 2.6.26 but we will get there. :)
