Marek,
Some weeks ago we (Holger, Mickey, Daniel, Jan and me) sat together
in Taipeh
discussing this issue. We had 2 options: connman or exalt. Mickey
planned to
look at both and give us feedback as soon as a decision was made
because the
FSO team intended to integrate a network manager anyways.
Hope the feedback is coming soon. :-)
I think Mickey has chosen connman, but I didn't see reasons or
comparison results with exalt.
Maybe Mickey has more...

But actually considering that right now we have nothing workable (Hm,
Marek closed this bug that our Wifi UI is useless with WONTFIX) WPA-

support that was solid would be fine and we should target it, since
WEP
is about as good as no encryption nowadays. Even so another post

they can in fact do WEP via wpa_supplicant
WPA-PSK-only probably[tm] worked fine with the version that we
shipped with
Om2008.{8|9} but it even had problems to connect to unencrypted
networks. WEP
may be deprecated but is still heavily used.
I looked into a later version which gladly accepted supplied
passwords but did
not do anything with it. Also, theoretically it should support
everything that
wpa_supplicant supports but it filtered networks internally.
