Ahh, that explains why the newer tar version from Billy didn't make a
difference (I'm already using "testing").

By the way, we now have a full tar also in the Openmoko feed, e.g.,

In fact, we have a pretty complete collection of non-Busybox tools
these days, thanks to Holger who found and fixed them, and added
them to our nightly build.
