Creating an agent is a great effort, and basing it on sigar is smart.
I'd like to see an agent that can perform some front end processing, local
event/metric caching - then a batch upload to the server. That would add
some value over snmp, wmi - which must be queried "live". In a distributed
or disconnected environment - a caching agent is most compelling. Other than
that, automated actions are another reason why an agent is valuable.

All that said, adding untrusted agents into a production network would never
fly in any of the clients that I work with. In less rigorous settings, that
may not be true.
