I disagree, but be that as it may, it's pain exactly once. And going through the pain pays off already on the second or third patch sent. > Gerrit is a tool for developers to use to review patches, but it > is definitely not a tool report bugs and issues with. I never said it was. The original question was how to report bugs and/or fixes. Gerrit is the way to send fixes. > Bug reporting is a key part of the FOSS development process, and of > immense value even without code contributions, and there are common > tools like bugzilla or trac to make it easy. Obviously it is more convenient to never have to sign up anywhere in order to contribute, but I invite you to take the responsibility of fighting the spambots which generate accounts and spam, and funnel captcha challenges onto porn sites. Staying noise free means that humans (you and me both) must spend time on bullshit we do not want to do. I'm sure that you understand that noone participating in the project has any desire to make it extra difficult to contribute because they think it's fun to annoy people, which you seem to suggest, and which isn't so cool. :\ Creating a Gerrit account can not really be a big problem for anyone who wants to send a patch. Agree, it is is still a somehow young software, so maybe not many are familiar with it, but there is already a good amount of documentation (ohnoes, have to read, can't just click randomly on big pastel buttons) and if already knowing a bit of Git then I think it's actually quite intuitive. //Peter ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ RSA(R) Conference 2012 Mar 27 - Feb 2 Save $400 by Jan. 27 Register now! http://p.sf.net/sfu/rsa-sfdev2dev2 _______________________________________________ OpenOCD-devel mailing list OpenOCD-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/openocd-devel
