Both FT2232 and FT2232H have the same VID/PID, however the bcdDevice differs. 

FT2232H:   bcdDevice            7.00
FT2232D:   bcdDevice            5.00

A recent libftdi recognises the chip by bcddevice.

No need to reprogram.
