Although, if you had continued reading the thread, you would probably have
seen the recommendation to use --enable-ftdi instead of (or in addition to,
if you wish) the basically deprecated --enable-ft2232_libftdi. It will buy
you a significant performance boost and hopefully better robustness (if it
doesn't, please bug report).

You will also need to select the new implementation at runtime by using
configs from the interface/ftdi subdirectory.
