  not to pile on, but there are quite a few references in the openocd
code base to "deprecated" stuff, just run:

  $ grep -rwi deprecated *

to see. how much of that is actually removable?

  and there are the occasional references in the User's Guide like:

doc/openocd.texi:At this writing (November 2009) only ARM7, ARM9, and ARM11 
support
doc/openocd.texi:At this writing, September 2009, there are no Tcl utility

that are definitely dated.
